F. I see blandishment in my everyday life. Everywhere you go there will be someone trying to get what they want by blandishment. Whether it be another student in class trying to suck up to the teacher by bringing in a crunch bar for them or trying to impress your boss by working extra hours. Basically, blandishment is a cheap way of trying to get a little extra just by flattering someone. [emily]
G. After considering the word blandishment awhile, a festive holiday film came straight to my mind. The classic movie I am thinking of is the timeless "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". Though one might not immediately find blandishment to connect whatsoever with such a film, I find the word to fit quite well actually. There are a few small but significant scenes in this movie with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Mrs. Claus presents Santa with alot of blandishment because he is too skinny and Christmas is just around the corner. Now being too skinny does not seem to important but when you consider that Santa is the one who is thin, you realize that it's just not right. Mrs. Claus realizes that the children expect and want a nice plump and round Cris Sringel to bring them their toys not a narrow old man. Luckily with Mrs. Claus's persistent blandishment, Santa eats until he is just the picture perfect Santa Claus. ---ginam---
